Register for Homeschooling In Each State

As the Grow Together School is a private decentralised community network of parents and teachers you will need to register your children for homeschooling if you are planning on removing them from traditional schooling and using this platform.

The best part of this is you have access to a full network of other like-minded parents and fully qualified teachers to ensure your child gets a high-quality education from the safety of your home or face-to-face in-person if that is your desire.

Homeschooling in Australia is legal in all states and territories. Each state government has different requirements. You apply to the education board in the state you reside in. However, if you have no fixed address you cannot apply.

If you do not live in Australia, or you are not a resident then you cannot apply for homeschooling in Australia.

Please read our FAQ’s to answer any further questions and find the links to register in your home state or territory.

Homeschooling FAQs

Yes. Legally children in Australia between the ages of 6 to 15 need to be at school or homeschooling. From 15 to 17 children can leave school as long as they meet state educational or vocational requirements (this varies slightly between states).

To be registered for homeschooling in Australia you must apply to the state or territory in which you are a resident. Here are a few facts you should know.

  • There are NO prior qualifications needed to start a course and there is no requirement to finish school. (However, some courses may have assumed knowledge that will be stated as a prerequisite.)
  • You do NOT need to be a particular age.
  • You do NOT need to leave home to do the course. Tests are set up at many locations and you choose a location convenient for you. Some courses, like science, have a week of on campus requirements for practical assessments.

The whole idea of the Grow Together platform is to give the power back to parents and teachers to make their own free sovereign decisions.

Once you have found a teacher and arranged an interview and are happy to engage the teacher for your child, you and the teacher discuss and agree upon renumeration, schedule, and payment cycles. This agreement is solely between you and the teacher (as a self-employed business). The same as you would engage a builder, plumber or electrician to complete contracted job for you.

Once teachers have been engaged they will set up online classrooms (for online learning) and invite your profile to this classroom.

When it’s time for online lessons and your children have different teachers you simply sign your children into the platform on their separate devices and navigate to the appropriate group classroom which can operate simultaneously.

Children do not have a profile on the platform, only parents and teachers do.
